Quick Question Re Pill Switch

After reading "your pill and what's in them" by Judie, my question is:

I was switched from Ortho Cyclen to Lo/Ovral. If I understand correctly (and I may not!), the Lo/Ovral has more progestin and less estrogen than Ortho Cyclen. I was switched due to a lot of irregular bleeding issues. Do I understand that more progestin helps keep "everything" in place resulting in less irregular bleeding? Would that have been the reason for this switch? I am on my 3rd pack and feel I am adjusting pretty well as far as bleeding issues are concerned.

Set me straight if I am not getting this!

Thanks!

If you were having bleeding because you were developing more endometrium than your former pill could support (with it's level fo progestin), then yes, a pill with a higher progestin activity should help that.

Two more questions:

1. Still having a little BTB but am only on my 3rd pack of Lo/Ovral. According to what I have read, this is normal for the first few packs.

2. Had a little bowel upset this am. Sequence of events, took pill at 8:45 a.m. (I always take them between 8:45 and 9am) upset occured (2 bouts) around 9:10, 9:20. Took a second pill as precaution around 9:30. However, since I didn't have a back-up pack of pills, I took the second pill out of my current pack. I figured that I would simply end the active pills a day early, start period probably a day early and begin new pack a day early. As long as I do not go longer that the 7 placebos I should be okay. Right??

Your help is always appreciated.

Thanks!!
