BC irregularities, and Plan B

First time poster here.

OK. Here's the deal. I was on Desogen for about a year, and when I was near the end of my last pack, I had made a decision to go off of it because (a) I was no longer a student (thus making it impossible to afford) and (b) I was not in a relationship, so there appeared to be no need. Therefore, my last week of active pills, I was kind of scarce on. I took the first three diligently, but the last four I was kind of lazy on. However, I got my period on time, and, during that time, entered into a relationship. At my next doctor's visit, I got a new prescription for Apri, a Desogen generic. my period ended on a Thursday (which is when my BC week began typically), but because I could not get to the pharmacy sooner, I did not start the new pack until Sunday.

I have been golden and dilgent with this new pack, and on Monday of the last week of the active pills, my boyfriend and I were having intercourse, when the condom slipped off inside me after he came. We went to PP the next day and got me some Plan B. I took them by 3pm that afternoon (approximately 15 hours after the incident). Now, I have been told that being on BC protects me well, but I'm scared because of the irregularities at the end of my last pack, as well as the break in between packs. Also, I'm afraid that there's a chance Plan B won't work and that I may still end up pregnant.

I've done some research on ovulation times, and judging on the timeframe they have given, I was outside the zone (speaking as if I were completely unprotected by the BC), but I know those things aren't an exact science, and I still worry.

So now here's my question...What is the likelihood that I may still be pregnant?

Jill,
Thank you so much for the response. You've helped to put my mind at ease a good deal more. Of course I will let you know how everything goes. It's just going to be rough to not freak out if this entire week goes by without Aunt Flo dropping by.

When do you think would be an appropriate time to do an HPT in the event my period takes awhile to come?

Again, thanks so much. :)

A good HPT is accurate about 2 weeks after the day of concern so I would think if Aunt Flo doesn't show up you could test after beginning the next pack of pills. I'm betting you have nothing to worry about.

Something else I didn't think to ask before now...

About five days after the IC, I remember feeling some cramping and gas-like feelings that I usually get before my period. This lasted for about two days and I have not felt them since. I thought about those feelings and thought that they were either good or bad. Good in that maybe it was my period trying to get started. Bad in that it could have been pregnancy starting to take place. What is the likelihood it would have been the latter?

That's such a relief. I thought all Plan B side effects took place within 24 hours after. Something I just realized too was that I was at my boyfriend's house all alone that day, and he had no groceries in the house, save some crackers and peanut butter that I had brought over the day before. The point: I didn't eat a whole lot throughout the day. So another possibility is that my body was just complaining about the lack of nutrients.

Jill,
Aunt Flo stopped in yesterday! At first, I was afraid it could possibly be implantation bleeding, but it's been unambiguously red and had a consistent flow throughout all of yesterday and today. Just to keep myself honest though, what are the chances it could be BTB from Plan B?

Thanks!

Ok, I know it seemed like Aunt Flo visited last week, but I just need to be able to rule out one more thing: What is the possibility that last week's bleeding was BTB from switching pills? Does BTB only happen during the active pills, or is it possible to have it during the placebo week? When I switched, my doctor said she wrote me a prescription for Apri because the doses in those pills were, in her words, "almost the same" as those in Desogen. I've done some reading, and I've read that breakthrough bleeding is defined as bleeding that happens while taking active pills, so I'm a bit comforted by that, but what is the offical word on when it could happen?

Just to clear up, "Aunt Flo" came when it normally does (day 4 of placebo pills) and ended when it normally does (day 7 of placebos with just a little bit of bleeding on day 1 of new pack).

I know I could just do a pregnancy test to be completely sure, as the results would be accurate now, but, to be honest, I'd rather save it for when I have real reason to think I could be pregnant. If I can rule out BTB as a reason for AF's visit last week, then I can save it.

Thanks!
