Question about skipping period

I've been on Yasmin since late December, and the first month I tried to skip my period and ended up spotting. Since then, I've taken the pills regularly and haven't tried to skip, and my body seems to have adjusted and the side effects have gone away. I would like to skip my periods for the summer (June-Aug) due to vacations and the like. Is there still a possibility I will have spotting if I try to skip?
Alternately, if spotting can occur, can I change the order as to when I take the placebo pills? Say, vacation falls on week 4 of the pack, can I take the placebo pills during week 3 and then take the week 3 yellow pills during week 4, and then continue with a normal pack after that? If my periods were only a few days long each I wouldn't worry, but they are still happen for almost a week at a time, and that can interfere with a lot!
Thanks everyone!

Hi karenl81, welcome!

"You can try shortening your hormone free interval to 3-4 days which should shorten your periods."
Really?? I had no idea. Do you mean that instead of taking all 7 of the placebo pills, to take only the first 3-4 and then start a new pack? That would be wonderful! :)
That should work. It may take a day to stop the bleeding entirely. Give it a try and see how you do. Two new pills on the market, Loestrin 24 and Yaz, both have 24/4 dosing regimens so it should work for other pills too.
