Hi, I'm Amie mom to 2 beautiful kids...and no more PLEASE! My plan was to get my tubes tied immediately after delivering my DD but we moved and the ONLY dr in my new town that could fit me in before i gave birth was affiliated with a Catholic hospital, nothing against the Catholics but they shouldn't have jurisdiction over my ovaries, so no tubal was done. My OB there told me about a nonsurgical option for sterilazation called essure. I am already scheduled to have it done but I am curious about the level of pain. Has anyone here had it done? I had an HSG in 2003 which required a manual dilation of my cervix to 1 cm, I thought natural child birth was out of the question for me it hurt so bad and acetominiphine (sp) was the "pain" killer recommended HA! Anyways, an HSG takes approximately 30 seconds from dilation to die release and removal of instruments, the essure procedure will take approximately 15-20 minutes I'm wondering if HA Tylenol is sufficient. I know that since I had 2 vag deliveries I am dilated already somewhat, so I wonder if that will help with the pain at dilation for the insertion of the scope and instruments.
If you have not heard of this procedure visit essure.com. The procedure is 99.97% effective only second to a vasectomy and is NOT reversable.

If you want anymore first hand experiences, you may want to jump over to the Child Free By Choice board. Quite a few ladies over there have had the procedure done and posted their experiences. I think most of them are still around if you had any questions.
Good luck with the procedure,
Allison
