Well, the breast tenderness finally went away. Just as I'm about to start my period. Jeez. I've now been dealing with spotting for the past week (last week of active pills), and two weeks of breast soreness. I say soreness, cuz tenderness is too weak of a word.
I called up my doc and told him that I found out OTC-Lo isn't even covered by my insurance, so regardless of my symptoms, what's next?
You'll all love this. The nurse told me to call up my pharmacy and have them fax a copy of my formulary, oral contraceptives only, to them. I did. Pharmacy doesn't do that. Nurse tells me to call up my health insurance. They don't do it either. So, I got to copy and paste 10 pages worth of drugs, delete the ones not covered, and send it to my doc. Jeez. But, okay, worth it to get something that's covered.
He put me on Junel Fe. The nurse was useless as she said there is no "brand" however, I came to find out Loestrin Fe is the brand to generic Junel Fe. Lame. But okay. I'm beginning to lose faith in these nurses. I am assuming it's the 1/20 Fe.
Which, we are hoping the lower estrogen will help with the breast soreness, my low libido, and well, I didn't know about the spotting until recently, so I hope that doesn't continue.

By changing progestins, that may take care of the breast soreness.
Thanks. :) I'm going to see if I can stick this out. I noticed I was also having spotting prior to my period on the OTC, and I started REALLY early (as in, I normally take my last pill Th, then have my period start on T. This time it started on Sun. Although, I do think it's almost over, that was nice too. :))
I was also thinking......I think they may put the Iron in the pills because we're ON our periods. Think about it. You lose blood, which carries iron. I know people who are anemic and HAVE to eat a lot of iron or take supps to replenish their system. This woman, seriously was on her period for 2 months straight and had to eat red meat everyday, and take supps, because having her period for that long was draining her iron.
I think its to help replenish a bit of what we're losing, but as the directions say, not to alleviate a deficiency. That's my theory :)

What I had read, and this may vary by the source, is that a lot of us get too much iron. The body has no way to eliminate excess iron except by bleeding.
Well, I can't say I have an iron deficiency, although, I do know I have circulation problems. lol. I have way too many problems.
Thanks for asking. Training hasn't been happening. lol. Sadly, my breasts were too sore to do anything. Even walking fast, hurt. So, I'll prolly start soon, since I'm okay. I just hope the Junel doesn't do the same thing.
