Okay I just recently got off of my birth control patch. I was just wondering if there is anything that i have to be concered about like bleeding or such. My doctor said that she wants me to wait at least six month before becoming pregant. i didn't ask her why because at the time i wasn't planning on getting off of it. so if anyone has any info that would be helpful i would like to know. thanks

Even though the hormones from the nuvaring may play around with your cycles for a while, you must use condoms from now on if you don't want to get pregnant.

Don't panic if you don't get your period when you think you are supposed to, or if you have breakthrough bleeding.

I agree with Janet, your cycles could be unpredictable for the next six months.

Hi,
My doctor said that they used to recommend waiting 3 months after using bc so that your cycles were more regular and they could more accurately time the pregnancy. Since they now do early ultrasounds at my doctor’s office, dating the pregnancy isn’t a concern anymore in her opinion.

FYI: I took my last patch off 6/29/05 and had a + pregnancy test 8/4/05. It was a long cycle, but it was the first cycle and I got pregnant. I delivered a healthy baby boy 4/14/06 and had a healthy pregnancy as well. I’m 35, too, so these things are not supposed to be as easy for us old ladies!

Good luck, and if I were you I would definitely ask your doc why you should wait so long to try. I haven’t read any valid research that says you should. Oh, and start taking those prenatals, especially folic acid, if you’re going to TTC. It’s so important for your baby’s health.
