The Shot & Breastfeeding

I am confused and wondering, if getting the shot while i am breasfeeding have any negative effects on my baby. This is my first time breastfeeding so i would like to be sure.

This is a good question to ask your doctor, but as far as we know, Depo is okay to use during breastfeeding because it does not contain estrogen (which can reduce your milk supply).
Hi,
I’m using the shot, depo, and breastfeeding. I got the shot at my 6 week check up and ds is 11 weeks today. I’ve had no supply issues and everything I’ve read and heard, including from the doctor, says it safe for baby. Like Judie pointed out, if you don’t like the shot you’re still stuck with the effects for at least 3 months. Some women gain weight on it or have other issues. So far, it’s been great for me. I am still losing about 1 lb per week, which is fine as bf’ing is concerned, or so I’ve heard. Ds is still growing like a weed. I’m working and pumping and can always get more milk than he needs.
FYI: I’d get Mirena IUD if dh weren’t so darn opposed to it.
Good luck with your baby and your choice.
