Going off OTC-Lo

Hello:
I'm going off my OTC-lo & had some questions on what to expect.
I was on antibiotic's for a root canal about two weeks ago, so I know that decreased the effect. Last week I caught a flu bug & missed some days of taking the pill. I think it was 3 days I missed. Then Sunday I started up again but Monday (to my surprise) my period came. It's been about a week & it doesn't seem to be going away. It's not heavy by any means but it's still there. This coming Sunday is when my "in-active" week is to start.
My question is how long will my period last? Will it continue on through next week when it was really supposed to come? What normally happens when you go off the OTClo? How will this effect my periods?
Oh.. I've also notified my Dr's office that I will be going off the pill.
any help would be great!!!

Thanks!

Hi!
I figured that was the reason why I have my period now. The last active pill I took was on Monday the day I started. I haven't taken any since. Then next week is the placebo week. After the placebo week is when I planned on stopping but it ended up being Monday! Should I take the remaining two active pills then just finish with the placebo pill or not even bother since it's been so long??

I haven't been on the pill for too long. It's been about 2 years... so hopefully things will get back to normal quickly.

Thanks!

Since you intend to stop BCPs and have already been off actives since Monday and since you have only 2 active pills left I don't think there is any point in taking them.

Hello again!

I'm not having a difficult time at all with the OTC-lo. It's just that I gained some weight over the last few months & thought maybe the OTC-lo was doing it. My diet is a healthy diet & I exercise 4-5 days a week (depending on the week). So I'm kind of doing a little "expirement" on myself. Otherwise OTC-lo is great!

I was alwasy taking my pills consistently up until this month. With the root canal & then the flu bug, it was harder to take them on time or even take them at all. When you're sick you don't feel like doing much but sleep! Anyway, like I mentioned to Judie, I haven't taken an active pill since Monday, the day I started. So it's been 4 days since I've taken an active pill. Sunday is when my placebo week starts. So taht's not too bad. I guess I pretty much caused my period to come a week early! I'll have to be patient & see how long it lasts. I guess I was concerned since I've been bleeding for 5 days before my cycle... wasn't sure if it was normal or not...

I've definately been using condoms as an additonal source of protection, even when I was on the OTClo. Maybe in several months I'll go back to the OTC-lo... guess we'll see!

Thanks for everything!
