Late taking pill & spotting??
| Sat, 07-08-2006 - 12:07pm |
I noticed some slight spotting this a.m. and it just so happened that I was 2 - 3 hrs late in taking my pill.
Is there a correlation?
I am on Day 14 of a 21 day pill cycle, if that makes any difference.
I also noticed some weird bloating/crampy feeling just before I realized the spotting.
It was a light pink to brownish colour.
Sorry, TMI!
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Maybe it's nothing, but on the other hand, could it possibly be a break-through ovulation...? They do occur even when you're on the Pill (altho, the Pill also thickens your cervical mucus to help block sperm from your uterus and thins the lining of it as well, so implantation is unlikely even if ovulation isn't suppressed and you do in fact conceive). Spotting and that bloaty/crampy feeling are signs that some women get when they ovulate, so who knows.
I'm learning more and more about the Pill (just started it last month), and even though you weren't that late taking your pill, I'd say it wouldn't hurt to use a backup method for a week, just in case (especially since it's right in the middle of your pack). That's what I would do anyway.
HTH! :)
Hi rosieposie11, welcome!

hi Jill:
thank you for replying so promptly. I have lurked here often and have found the information quite useful.
I have been on the same BCP for 10+ yrs. I have had spotting mid-cycle before (maybe once or twice a year) so it's not entirely unusual but still a bit disconcerting KWIM?
I take my pill within the hr each day, haven't had any vomiting/diarrhea, or other meds either.
Perhaps it could be the fact that it's Day 14 of the pack and it's ovulation time? I realize that the pill suppresses ovulation, but along with my bloating / crampy feelings I am beginning to wonder.
It's lasted all day now with the spotting. My annual isn't until August, so should I try to get in earlier, or just wait until month?
Thanks,
Hi again
