i m 23 and I have been on 4 diff BCPs.

The 1st one was horrible for me (tri-cyclen)

Diane 35 was pretty good, i had a super light period but it became irregular after a few mnths :(

Then i went on yasmin and things were ok until my period got SUPER HEAVY

and now im on alesse and my period is super heavy again :(

My sister just takes her pill everyday 365 to avoid her period. a few girls that i know do that.
does anyone else do that or know someone who does?

I want a baby someday and wanna make sure it doesnt screw me up.

I just hate really heavy periods. I hate wearing diaper sized pads and smaller ones give me no protection and my body practially rejects tampons so I d love to skip my period altogether.

any thoughts?

also, the whole reason i m on the pill is cos i have poly cystic ovarian syndrome. i wonder if this skipping the break in pills will mess that up to. until i see a dr, i need some advice

Yes, it is OK to take your pill 365 days per year.

You can take them continuously, as Janet said, but you may not be as successful as your sister.

You may have to call a few doctors before you find one that will advise taking the pill non-stop. I just recently found one and will be taking Seasonale without a break for a period. He said in 6 months if I start a period to simply stop the pill for a few days to get a period then continue after that.

He also told me that it would help with the PCOS because it stops ovulation so no more cysts.

I took BCPs from 16-32. I stopped them intending to get pg in a few months..........

First time!!!!! So, in my case, BCPs definitely did NOT cause problems with fertility.

Ok, I think this topic answers my question, but thought I'd ask anyway. I'm on Seasonale right now, and have been for about 2 years, but was thinking of skipping the white pills, and thus skipping my period permanently. I'm not currently having sex, so becoming pregnant isn't an issue. I was put on this prescription to regulate my cycles, and I had painful periods before, and still do when I take my placebo pills. Spotting has never been an issue for me while on Seasonale, so I'm not too worried about that. Does anybody know if it's unhealthy, or if anything weird could happen to me if I do decide to skip my period all together? And also, do you think the doctor would be able to tell if I hadn't had my period for a while?

Hi. My doctor told me to take it straight through without breaks. I have menstrual migraines and hopefully this won't happen anymore. He said to expect a period in 6 months or so and to simply stop taking them for 3 or 4 days to let a period happen, then start again.

I think the doctors are starting to catch up with the rest of us in skipping periods altogether. I had to call 6 doctors before I found one that even understood my needs.

Good luck,

There is also a school of thought that worries about the estrogen exposure when women are taking birth control pills continously.
