My OB/GYN prescribed for me Lea's Shield. No problem I thought...go to the Pharmacy and get it~ The pharmacists told me I'm sorry, I've never heard of it....Our wholesaler doesn't supply that and we can't order from anyone except our wholesaler. I thought this was very odd, so I called another pharmacy...once again...."Can't order from anyone, but our wholesaler and they don't supply this"....I literally called every pharmacy in our city (which is a very large city) and a few in neighboring suburbs. No one has it available.
So finally I called Planned Parenthood thinking of course that I could take my OB's script into them and they would fill it. No, no, no....Ob's script isn't good enough for them~ They said, we'll have to set you up with a consultation and you need to have a pap done! I seriously don't believe this~ I just had a pap done 2 months ago by my OB/GYN...I'm not due for another one until next yr. The nurse said...you'll have to come in and be fitted for it...I then told her this isn't something that someone needs fitted for~ It's one size fits all!!! So why is my OB/GYN...who is board certified by the FACOG not as good as a Nurse Practioner from Planned Parenthood. I didn't want to go to Planned Parenthood anyway so this really pee'd me off.
My insurance company will cover it, but will not re-imburse me for it so ordering from the company is not something that I wanted to do. Not sure if we'll be happy with it so I'm not wanting to spend $$$$ for something that we may only use 1 time and not be happy with.
So why is it that I can get any perscription or any other method that has the potential of really screwing up ones body, but if I was something like this one has to go thru hell and hi water to get?!?!?!?
We were getting the idea that possibly this hasn't had all the testing done on it and there wanting to try it out of mom's that are low income via planned parenthood.

Hi mom211, welcome!
Jill
I think I'm just going to give up and seek another alternative such as NFP.
My OB/GYN is part of a "health care system"..employeed by the local hospital so she what she orders has to come thru the hospital pharmacy and once again the circle starts over. If she was a private practice OB she probably could order on her own though.
Thanks for listening to the gripe.
