pill slip up=pregnancy?

I've been lurking for the past 2 days, looking for information. But..I haven't quite found it. So, I figured I ask. I'm a 25 year old professional and have been married for 21/2 years. I've been on birth control for 4. This pack..I started a week late. Then, I got sick. So..I was put on anti-biotics. I know that starting late & anti-biotics can increase the chance of becoming pregnant on the pill. I do not begin taking the green in-active pills until next week..but if I had started my pack of pills on time..my period would be this week.(i know this is all kind of confusing.) I started cramping last week, and my breasts are larger and my nipples are VERY VERY sensitive. More so than ever before. I'm just wondering if this means my period will come this week..like it should have if I had started my pills on time. Or..if this means I may be pregnant. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. I'm very nervous, anxious, going crazy...etc.
Thank you in advance,
Katherine

Hi Katherine,
Did you use a backup method at all this month? I think when you start a pack late and/or are taking antibiotics they recommend that you use a backup method until you've been off the antibiotics for at least seven days, so long as you started your pack on time and didn't miss any pills...I don't know what the guideines are for how long you need to use a backup method after also starting a pack a week late. If you didn't use a backup method, it seems to me that pregnancy is a good possibility.
Also, from what I understand, when you're on the Pill, your period is "withdrawal bleeding" caused by the sudden withdrawal of the hormones in the pill (the inactive pill week). So even if you aren't pregnant, I wouldn't expect a period until after you start the inactive pills. You could probably take a home pregnancy test though and possibly find out now if you're pregnant (you could test now and if it's negative, test again in a week if your period still hasn't showed up).
I'm sure one of the board leaders will be here soon to post more info - they're both very knowledgeable and will be able to tell you much more!
GL - hope everything turns out the way you want it to! :)
