I have been taking yasmin for about 3-4 months now, swtiched from ortho-tri-cyclen lo..and now I am switching to yaz after i finish my current pack of yasmin. I was reading the information packet, and saw where it says: "If your healthcare provider has advised you to use a Sunday start method, begin with the first pill on the Sunday after your period BEGINS.
Here's my confusion: When I made the first switch from the ortho. lo to yasmin, i finished my last pack/had my period/then started the yasmin on the following Sunday after my period ended. Ok now I am almost done with this last pack of yasmin..do I start the Yaz the sunday after my period ends? like I did before?? Say ok I go through the last strip of inert pills, have my period (which typically does not start on a sunday anyways..about 4-5 days later it will start) then start the new pack of Yaz on the sunday??
Have I been taking my pills wrong?? My mom says well you don't start until 4-5 days INTO the last strip of inert pills..so should you start the Yaz the sunday AFTER THAT DAY it actually starts like the packaged info says?
I am so confused..I have never been pregnant so it's working (the pills that is) but I want to get this right in my head.
Thanks.

Those instructions you referred to are only for the FIRST month taking yasmin.
Start your next pack the day after you finish the inert pills. You should always start your pack on the same day of the week.
Example: IF you take your last inert pill on Tuesday, start your next pack on Wednesday, regardless of when your period starts/doesn't start. Every month your last inert pill will be taken on Tuesday (or whichever day it happens for you) and your next pack will start on Wednesday (the day after).
Does this make sense to you? Do not switch the day that you start your pills. You should never go more than 7 days without an active pill or you risk pregnancy.
Those instructions are only for the FIRST month taking yasmin. Which day will you take your last inert pill this time?
