New to the ring

Hello everyone. This is the first message board I have ever participated in and I am very excited to start. I've read quite a few entries on the Nuvaring this morning and you've all inspired me to jump in too. Here's my story: I am 30. I was on Orthocept 28 for about 6-8 years and then my husband and I decided to "let things happen" so I went off all b/c for about a year before we were blessed with conceiving our first daughter. Since then (approximately 4 years ago) I haven't taken any b/c due to becoming pregnant with our second daughter and nursing. I have had two periods since having my second daughter. (Only 4 since becoming pregnant with our first...can't say that I missed it!!!) Anyways, my second cycle was extremelly painful. I realize that my body is adjusting to natural hormones and I'm praying this next one and ones after will be better. I'd never experienced such terrible cramping before w/ AF. I am currently on day 15 of the Ring and have a couple of concerns. First, I have to agree with most that it is unbelievably easy! Almost too easy that I question myself if I've got it in correctly or that it's there at all. I love that! Also, I'm very excited that we can conform our cycles to our lives with the ring. The advice of keeping it in 21-28 days and out for no more than 7 was VERY exciting to read. Things I'm not sure of: I have been experiencing headaches about 75% of the time but I do give my "lovely" climate some of the credit for this, it plays havoc on my sinuses! Also, the last couple of days I have been experiencing some colored discharge. I wouldn't consider it to be spotting, it's definatley a discharge and it's a reddish/brownish color and it's enough to wear a pantyliner. I also feel like I've gained about 4 lbs. and some bloating but I'm hoping my body will adjust to the hormones and these things will subside. I'm also hoping the cramping won't be as painful as my last period either....keeping my fingers crossed but the ibuprophen ready!!! I'm not ready to throw in the towel, just wondering if these are typical and if anyone else has worked thru it. I look forward to reading your replies. Thank you and have a fabulous day!!!
