I have been on them for a while - one one brand for a little less than a year before my daughter was born and now for a little over a year after my daughter was born.

Are you looking for a low dose of estrogen, or no estrogen at all... because Yaz does have estrogen in it -- it is just a very low dose (the lowest dose you can get in pill-form): 20 mcg, so if you are open to some estrogen, it might be a good idea. I've been reading a lot about it (just started taking it myself, tonight actually), and one of the side effects is a lot of break-through bleeding in the beginning months (because estrogen is the hormone that typically regulates this, I think), but on the website (www.yaz-us.com) they say that it should go away within a few cycles. Another very low estrogen option is the NuvaRing, which I think is supposed to be the lowest estrogen content you can get from combination birth control. You can read about it here: http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/whatIsNuvaRing/whatAreTheBenefits/Half/index.asp I don't know what options you have for totally non-estrogen bc (that is still hormonal), if you don't want to use the depo or the iud. Personally, I don't blame you about the depo because I have heard some scary things about it. I'm sure your doctor will have some options for you, though. I'm sorry I couldn't help more...

I am in the same boat you are in, unfortunatly without taking estrongen your options are depo (been on it DO NOT RECOMMEND IT), the mini pill, and an IUD, or go with a barrier method like condoms. I've been on the mini pill since Feburary and had no period until June, then have been starting and stoping like 3 times since then. Why the oposition to an IUD?? I have been trying to get one, so I am curious why you rule it out. If the estrongen won't cause perment changes to your body, you might try the Nuva Ring, or Yaz, as was reccommended.

I have been on the mini pill and went off it after a few months due to the breakthrough bleeding that got worse and worse.

If you don't want anything with estrogen, and the IUD and depo shot are out as options, your choices really are limited.
