Hi ladies! Well I am back from my honeymoon and am now thinking of switching from Yasmin to Loestrin or Yaz due to extreme breast soreness and a diagnosis with melasma (my derm. said the brown spots that have appeared on my face in the past few months are due to BC, and wants to lower my dosage). Does anyone have experience with this pill, especially in reference to breakthrough bleeding or spotting? Thanks in advance!

I'm on Yaz. I've only been on it for about a week, but so far things are going well -- and I went off of one pill (Alesse) after only 5 days, I reacted so violently/badly to it...anyway, before I went on Yaz, I looked all over for peoples' experiences and stories and I read a lot about breakthrough bleeding and people having 14-20 day periods, so I know it's definitely a possibility. Ultimately, once your body gets used to the pill, it's supposed to give you a two day period. I started my pack on the first day of my period, which is what my doctor told me to do. Two days later, my period was basically done and the next day it was gone, and I haven't had any spotting since. I've never had very heavy periods, but this one was much lighter than usual. Granted, it may be too early to tell, and I'll let you know how it goes over the next few weeks, but so far I really like this pill.

I switched from Yasmin due to breast tenderb=ness as well. I went to Loestrin 24. I ws excited because I thouht this was the first time I experienced no sode effects. HOwever, what I thought was a yeast infection may be a reaction to the pill. there is a post from yesterday (8/3) "not a yeast infection" that discusses the problem i've been having. i'm torn, because aside from that i like it. we'll see how it goes...
oh, to the real question- no bt at all. except once i went away for the weekend and forgot my pills, so i missed fri and sat night, and bled a little on sun. but when i remember i have no problems, and after only 2 cycles, my period is down to 2.5 day which is a miracle for me!

hey msprissfl-just wanted to say that i gained almost 10 pounds from loestrin 24, i felt so disgusting, it was around my waist and lower back, my butt and boobs got bigger which was cool but then my belly started getting bigger and it just wasnt worth it. i had to get off it even though i was on my third month, i couldnt take it anymore. my husband thinks it was water weight but i felt really gross. also i didnt have my period until the third month on it and it lasted for about 7 days instead of the three days they say you'll have it. it was great not having a period for that long but after gaining that much weight we thought i was pregnant, but of course the test came out negative. so now i am going on Yaz and hopefully i wont gain any weight, i've been off loestrin for a week now and have lost 4 pounds (yessssss), so just wanted to warn you of loestrin cause i think its more for women over 40? Good Luck!

I have to agree w/ the previous member. I've been on Loestrin for a year now and I have noticed the increase in appetite enormously - ridiculous compared to my normal self w/ no BCP. I have now gained about 6 pounds (in a year). Everyday it can fluctuate 1 or 2 +- pounds but still, I can feel it and it's all around my waist area and my back. It does feel uncomfortable because I can feel everything giggle and I do bet most of it is water retention. I can feel the diference in my body on my inactive weeks, not much activity around the middle part of my body / less water. It's a great pill otherwise and it's supposed to be a very low dose pill. I'm not interested in trying other BCPs since they all have hormones and having a baby is not in my plans right now, SO I'm just going to ride it out as much as I can. Anyway, I hope you are happy w/ your decision and I hope that whatever you end up choosing works for you. Take care and have a great week!

I have been on YAZ for about three weeks. No issues with weight so far. In fact, I've lost a couple of pounds. I did spot for a few extra days beyond what my normal period would have been, but it wasn't bad. My breasts are tender, but exercise seems to help that for some reason.

Hope this helps!
