21 days of bleeding!?

So. I posted on here about a month ago. I was worried about starting the pill too soon, on spotting and not on the real period. A few days after the spotting (which wasn't normal for me) and me taking the pill, I finally got my period.
It lasted a little longer than normal..and then the normal period type blood stopped..but there was still constant blood. Usually it's dark brown, sometimes it's almost purple, and sometimes it's more pinkish. Sometimes it's.. gooey, and sometimes it's really thin. Also, sometimes it stops for a day or a few hours, and then it comes back again. It's now been happening for twenty-one days. I didn't freak out because I heard it was normal..but twenty-one days!? I'm on my fourth day of placebo pills, and while the bleeding has gotten more frequent, thicker, and darker..it still doesn't seem like a normal period.
Just wondering if you think there is anything to worry about or if you've heard anything like this or if there's any advice to be offered. It's just pretty annoying, costly for tampons when it's thick, and takes a little away from sex being as good as it could be (we're still using condoms because this whole thing is confusing).
My hormones seem to be all out of whack and I just can't wait until things get better, for the birth control obviously. But also I have bad acne and facial hair and things like that that I would love to get under control. But right now things are just worse than normal and I'm hoping that it will be worth the wait.
Yeah..and I'm on Desogen, that Planned Parenthood gave to me for free...if that has anything to do with anything.
Oh, and I've been on Jenny Craig for a little over a month (again..I was on it Nov-Jan and then stopped until the beginning of July) and I lose around a pound or two per week. I dunno if that would have any affect.
Ah, and I live in Ca, and there was a major heat wave a while ago and I carry my pills with me in my purse so 1)I'll always have them and so I will always take them and 2) so my mom won't find them.
I dunno if any of those factors are making the pill not work..or if it's just me being retarded.
Sigh.
