4 Days Late but Negative HPT

I wrote awhile ago about having bleeding problems with Yasmin. I would bleed brown blood (like the kind you get at the end of your period) for a week before my period. Then my period would start with the red blood and continue on for the usual time it lasts. I went to my doctor and her advice was to take Yasmin continuously and see if that would help. My insurance denied the continous Yasmin, so I just kept taking it like normal and hoped it would get better. This month I bled again the week before my period, but my regular period never came. I'm now four days late. BTW I always take my pills at the same time every day, so I know that's not the problem. I just took an HPT (First Response, the kind that can show positive four days early) and it was negative. I'm going to call my doctor Monday and make an appt., but I was wondering if anyone had any advice for a good birth control method for me. Yasmin is my sixth or seventh pill since I always get bleeding in my cycle when I'm not supposed to. I don't want to get an IUD and the ring isn't strong enough. I don't want to go back to Depo Provera because it gave me bad headaches. I just wish there was something else besides the pill. If not, maybe I'll try Ovral again. Thanks for reading this and I really appreciate any ideas anyone has. :)

Thanks for the info Jill :) I have been on Yasmin for at least a couple of years if not longer. I have been having bleeding problems with it for a long time, but I really like Yasmin so I waited as long as possible to switch to another pill or method. I always gave each pill at least 4 or 5 months before I switched, and it was always on my doctor's recommedation that I switched. Implanon sounds really good, although I must admit I am hesitant about trying brand new methods (new to the U.S.) after what happened with Norplant and the patch. I have a doctor appt. tomorrow morning, so I will let you know what happens. I am really hoping that everything will be fine and that all I'll need is a new method. I have been thinking about an IUD a little, but I keep changing my mind because some people say it is painful having it put in. That along with some women saying their husbands or BF's can feel during intercourse makes me wary of it. Thank you for always being there whenever we have questions, this is the best board on IVillage. :)
