Condom issue

I have vulvodynia and while I have gotten past a good bit of the pain of sex I am still a bit worried about it. I'm using a cream to treat it that is oil-based. Obviously oil-based products and latex condoms don't mix. I was wondering if I there was any amount of time I could wait after using it, or just trying to wash it off or something before using latex condoms, or if I should just use the polyurethane ones instead. I've just heard they break more easily, but then again a weakened latex condom wouldn't be good either. Any thoughts?

The general consensus is that you shouldn't use oil-based products at all if you are using latex condoms.

Thanks, I figured that, I just wanted to get a second opinion.
