My doctor just perscribed Mircette for me and was wondering what side effects if any? I don't need it for BC reasons just to help with period. I was on Ortho Novum for 16 years and no period but lately I have had a low libido and so I wanted to change. Can you not have a period on Mircette? Has it killed you libido? How is it with your periods? Thanks for your help.

I have been on Mircette for the last year and haven't had many side effects. My periods did get heavier the last three months or so, but I talked with my OB and she said to take them for three months straight and break for a week to have my period. Well, I did that, just had my period and I have to say it was the lightest one I have ever had! I used pantiliners the entire time. I did have some bloating, but my doctor gave me a low dose diruetic to help with that. I have not had any problems with loss of libido with Mircette, either.

HTH,
Laura

I take it for period problems and overall I've had a good experience. Regular, light periods. But I've had different side effects come and go with each cycle... breast tenderness, acne, hot flashes, and headaches. None of it was too bad. Its really weird how each side effect has lasted for one cycle and then goes away. I'm hoping that given a few more cycles I'll be good to go. Can't say how it affects libido because I don't pay much attention to that ;-)
