I am switching from Yasmin due to breast tenderness and melasma, and the doc prescribed Cryselle (generic for Lo Ovral). Does anyone have any experience with either of these? Thanks in advance!!

I made the same switch due to breast tenderness as well, and I hated LoOvral. It made my bleeding and cramps worse, and my skin super oily. It may work out for you, but for me it definitely did not. Good Luck!

if you don't get any input here, there is a website www.askapatient.com that will give you people's experiences. not sure if lo ovral is there, but it's worth a shot. it's always good to remember that you could have completely different effects that someone else, but i am the same way, i always want to know how others are affected too. it just makes me feel better. good luck!

I was put on Lo Ovral back when I was in high school. To be quite honest--and I don't mean to scare you--it nearly killed me! I had already had a bad reaction to OrthoTriCylen and some other brand of bc pills, so this was the third try. I felt queasy on it, just like I had on the others. One day however, while I was actually performing at a 4th of July gathering, the most severe headache I've ever had in my life overwhelmed me in a matter of about 10 minutes. Now, I grew up with migraines so this was no small headache (plus this might have had something to do with it--apparently my migraines were hormonally triggered, so having these new hormones introduced made me go wacky). Anyways, I lost all vision, had to be carried to the car by my parents, and driven home. Once I got home, I was vomiting uncontrolably the rest of the day. I immediately stopped taking the pills and felt completely back to normal within 3 days or so. Doctors said it could have either been a very severe migraine or even a blot clot to my brain. The next pill they put me on was Mircette and I've been on that with zero complications for 6 years! Also, I just changed over to the NuvaRing--so far, so good (and it's fabulous not having to remember those stupid little pills everyday!). So yeah, I don't mean to scare you--I'm sure lots of people take it with no incidents--but if you have a history of migraines, blood clots, hormonal problems, etc, go back and ask for something with a MUCH lower dose of hormones!
