Going off the pill mid-pack...

Hi!
I have a few worries about recently going off the birth control pill at day 13/21 in the pack. (I've been on the pill for a few years now.) I had and still have a very bad case of food poisoning. I was travelling abroad recently and didn't really trust going to see a doctor in Hungary, so I opted to deal with incredible pain. I've never had food poisoning before and didn't think it could have been that painful, so I began to think it was somehow related to missing a few pills (taking 2 pills many hours late, and missing 1 pill completely) in the previous days. I decided to go off the pill completely (4 days ago) and am worried about the possible side effects of it. My question is; does anyone know what to generally expect? Does anyone know when menstruation will take place?
Thanks for any info you have about this sort of situation!

Hi bluebell1905, welcome!
Jill
Hey!
Thanks for the message.
Feeling way better. Food poisoning symptoms are just about gone, and Aunt Flo did arrive on Friday night, so I'm relieved!
But, there's one thing I'm not sure about - should I start a new pack of bc pills, exactly 8 days after I stopped i.e. the last one of the previous pack I took last weeks Monday, so the next pack should be started tomorrow... right? Even though I only took about half of the pills in the previous pack?
Almost sure that it should be fine like this, but not 100%.
Thanks for any info!

Hi bluebell1905, welcome back!

Hi!
Thanks so much for that info about using backup, I probably wouldn't have done that for the next 7 days (really not a fan of condoms), but I guess if it's necessary of course I have to have my boyfriend use them.
Ok, thanks again!
