Mirena and migraines?

Another IUD question? About the time I ovulate I get a migraine. I don't usually get any around the time of my period, just the time of ovulation. I know it's probably a hormonal headache, as it happens each cycle. Does anyone who has the Mirena have worsening headaches, or found research that shows it does make headaches worse? I know it's on the list of side effects, but was wondering about real-life people. Years ago I did take the depo shots and had good results with no periods. I loved that part of it and would love to have a lighter period.

TIA

I have had no problems with headaches or migraines since having the Mirena IUD inserted.

Mirena suppresses ovulation about 50% of the time, so around 50% of the time you shouldn't experience migraines, if they are indeed associated with ovulation.

I used to get migraines all the time in high school (3+ times a week). In college started using depo, and I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not, but I ended up having a lot less migraines. Since college (past 2 years) I haven't had a single migraine and I have used the mini pill, minera, and now paragard in that time frame. I guess for me it is hard to say if my migraines just went away from age or what, but I certainly didn't have an increase in them due to minera. Hope that helps a little...
