Anyone else on the depo shot??
| Sun, 08-20-2006 - 11:38am |
I started it in February and had experienced some EXTREME mood swings and even had a stint of breakthrough bleeding for 12 days. I know my doctor said that it would take my body anywhere from 6-12 months to adjust but just wondering if anyone else experienced this with the shot????

Yep, I sure did.
I’m on depo; I just got my second shot last week. I haven’t really had trouble with it. I did have mood swings at first, but I also went back to work and was caring for my first baby and I attributed it to the stress. I guess I will see this time. I know there are lots of women who have trouble with it.
Just curious, may I ask why you chose it? I chose it because I am breastfeeding and did not want to use the minipill or IUD. Your reason may help us find an alternative for you if depo is not your thing.

I am actually doing fine now....the past few weeks I can feel myself having leveled off. I am in a much better mood and have not had any cramps on the shot. I have only had the light, breakthrough bleeding. I am on my 7 month of the shot and feeling myself getting back to "normal."
I chose to get on it because I had a hard time keeping up with my birth control pills and this was much easier. I don't want any more children and that weighed in on my decision because I know that the shot can affect your system pretty strongly. Thought I would try something different. Was on the pill for YEARS and then when I got divorced I stayed off of all birth control for about a 1 1/2 years. Let my system take a break!!! So, I started on the shot.
