Hey everyone. I am thinking of switching pills and need some advice. I have been on Mircette for about 10 months now and have been feeling depressed, nauseaus etc... so I'm thinking of trying out a different one. Any recommendations? I get my pills from my schools health services so I have few options, what are your opinions on the following;
Cyclessa
Desogen
Ortho-Tricyclen-Lo
What have your experiences been? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I think if I were you I would try Ortho Tricyclen Lo because Cyclessa and Desogen have the same progestin as Mircette. Progestin is typically the hormone that is blamed for the depression side effect, so trying a different one, like the one in Ortho-Lo might be a good idea. Also, the progestin in Ortho Tricyclen Lo is lower in potency than the one in the other pills, so you may have better luck for that reason too.
I did try Ortho Tricyclen Lo, and it did not work out so well for me -- it made me pretty weepy. But that doesn't mean it will not work for you (I never tried a pill like Mircette, Desogen, or Cyclessa, so we could react to pills differently), since every person reacts differently to different pills.
The best idea would be to talk to a doctor or whoever is prescribing the pills for you and ask their opinion. They'll be able to tell you the most common side effects with each pill.
Good Luck!
Really it all comes down to you. What my experiences might have been (I haven't taken any of those pills) or Lizjane's might have been, ultimately the only experience that is going to tell you anything is going to be your own.
