Stoopid *$#@^(! Doctors!

So I called today to make the appointment for the IUD. The girl on the phone was asking me all the questions I've already answered with my own doctor about if I had kids, do I want kids, etc...
Then she tells me that the doctor there won't insert an IUD in someone that hasn't been pregnant.
So, I guess I'm back to where I was a couple weeks ago. I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't know WHY I can't do whatever I want with my own body. I don't know WHY people think that someday I'll magically want to have children... I won't!
I called my doctor and left a message asking what to do next. Of course, I got no reply.

Apparently though, with my insurance, I have to have a referral from my doctor to get another doctor to do the procedure. So now I am depending on my doctor to find one for me. She didn't respond to my message today, so I'm not having really high hopes about this happening soon.
If the IUD needs to be inserted during my period then it has to be 09/07 or 09/08. That's not too far away...
I'll be calling to leave another message for my doctor tomorrow... I guess I'll keep doing that until I get some news.
I just printed out a list of OB-GYNs that are covered on my insurance. I'm going to start at the top and just start calling every one of them tomorrow morning and won't stop until I find someone that will do it.
After I get a list of 2 or 3 that will insert an IUD even if I've never been pregnant, I'll pass that list on to my doctor and tell her to do whatever it is she needs to do...

I am having NO luck with my list of doctors. I've gotten alot of definite no's, a couple of "we usually don't" and I am tired of making calls and asking the same question over and over...
One place told me that the doctor will think about it and if I call back on Monday she'll give me an answer. Another place told me I had to come in for a consultation and meet the doctor face to face before they decide. I have made an appointment to do that but it isn't until September 28th... *sigh*
I really do NOT want to take the pill for another month only to find out that they're going to refuse me too...
I called and left another message for my doctor to see what she recommends.
Have you talked to

From what I remember the last time I went to the local PP here, they do not accept any insurance. So if I go there I will have to pay cash and I just can't do that knowing that my insurance would cover it if I could just find a doctor to do it.
I decided that since I'm only able to get consultation appointments a month away that I will get another month prescription of the pill to hold me over and I have also made an appointment to talk to a doctor that does the Essure procedure. All along I've been saying what I really want is sterilization, so I might as well at least ask someone if I can have it done and not just assume I can't.
Though the search for an IUD is so much more difficult than I imagined it would be I'm sure the other will be impossible.
I guess I'm back on the pill for at least another month or 2.
Thanks... I guess I had gotten my hopes up a bit more than I should have. When my doctor recommended the IUD and told me there wouldn't be a problem I thought it was all set. I had no idea the GYN's would disagree so strongly with it...
So no more getting those hopes up. I'm going to go to the consultation on 10/4 and explain that I want either the Essure procedure or a tubal, and if they disagree I will ask for the IUD again. I have to have some form of non-hormonal birth control. I've been taking the pill too long and I want to stop...
I should be able to do this if I want to. I will sign whatever I have to sign to prove to them I won't be back wanting the procedure reversed, or whatever they want. I don't want kids! And if it comes right down to a choice between PREVENTING an unwanted pregnancy and getting pregnant and terminating it, I choose prevention... You would think that doctors would choose the same way.
I don't know why, but the info on both Mirena and Paragard say you need to have had a baby to use them. You may want to ask a nurse or doctor why that is, as the brochures do not specify.
