Nuvaring users-how do you store your nuvarings before use?
My doctor said I should keep them in the fridge. On the sample packs she gave me, it states that before the doctor dispenses them, they are to be stored in a cool environment (fridge) but after that they can be stored 59-77 degrees F.
I have mine in my fridge right now. I am wondering if this is okay, since it says to store 59-77 degrees (I also checked on their website). I am confused about why it would say to store in a fridge before giving to the patient but not after. It does get pretty hot in our house in the summer months (over 77).
??
Any thoughts??

I stick mine in the fridge...just because, but keeping them at room temperature is perfectly fine.

The thing about the rings being stored in the fridge at the pharmacists is that it helps preserve the rings (and hormones) until they are dispenced to us users. After they are taken out of the cold for even a while, they have only 4 months (I think it is that time limit, it should be written on your box) after the date of issue to be used.

Heather is right--though my pharmacy hasn't done it since the first couple of months I was on the ring, the pharmacist is supposed to write the dispensing date on your box (and the doctor, if it's a sample).

I don't have a response because I've been kind of confused about it too (the box is not very explanatory!), so I've just kept mine in the fridge. I do have a question to kind of tag onto this one though. My prescription insurance company has let me know that if I don't get my monthly maintenance prescriptions mailed to me (instead of me picking them up at the pharmacy), I will have to pay more. I would love to just have the ring mailed to me since I tend to be forgetful about refills, but I'm not sure it's a good idea to have it sitting in hot mail trucks and post offices on its way! Am I right? I know it can be left at room temperature, but I can't really be assured that it will always be stored at less than 85 degrees or whatever it's supposed to be. I'm planning to call the company to find out anyway, but I was curious if anyone else has theirs mailed to them and if it is okay? Thanks!
