Would like some feedback on the Nuvaring

My doctor and I decided that I should try the Nuvaring to see if it will solve my problem with breakthrough bleeding and slightly elevated blood pressure (but still within the normal range). I am due to start in a few weeks and I would just like to see whether and what other women like and dislike about it. From what I have read, the main problem seems to be lowered libido - I haven't really suffered from that on any of the brands I tried and don't want that to happen to me (obviously). Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

I loved the Nuvaring. I never had a problem with lowered libido...and actually I never had a problem with it at all. It was nice to put it in and forget it for 3 or 4 weeks at a time and it was so easy to manipulate my period with it...much easier than the pill. And it made my periods much shorter and lighter. All in all, I give it two very big thumbs up. The only reason I stopped using it was because I recently got an IUD. But I'm still a big Nuvaring believer.

Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I've been using Nuvaring for about 4 years and I wouldn't switch to anything else.

I've been on it for a while now and LOVE it. I take it out on a friday 6 days later I get a light short period(a few hours long) and then the next day I put the ring back in. I haven't had any cramps at all and I feel great with it

Over all I loved the Nuvaring. The first month on it I seemed to cry over everything, but then I guess I adjusted to it, because that didn't continue. I loved the convenience of it. I would never be able to take/remember a pill every day. You put it in and forget it. I couldn't feel it at all-and I am never even comfortable wearing tampons because I can always seem to feel them. Also, you can remove it or leave it for sex, whatever you want. Also, the drug rep for it and my midwife both said you can actually leave it in for 4 weeks then off one because there's enough medicine in it for 5 (ask your dr).
If you're going to do the hormonal route, I'd give it a 10. Oh, and the only reason I went off of it is that I'm done having kids and had a tubal ligation.

I had major issues on the Ring with lower libido – I am still trying to recover a year later. It was an awful, awful experience. I had been a multi-orgasmic person and slowly, I just completely stopped deriving pleasure from sex. Keep your eye out for that – it doesn’t happen to everyone, but stop it as soon as you think you may be having problems.

It was kind of funny – I was at a museum when my bf and I figured out it was the Ring that was causing the problems. I went into the bathroom and chucked it right then and there! However, it takes a long time for your body, and even a longer time for your mind to get back to where it should be.

Good luck.
