QUESTION ON REFILLING BC PRESCRIPTION
| Thu, 09-07-2006 - 1:26pm |
I've been on BC for about 2 1/2 years now but have never been on one prescription for more than a few months because I'd get the early bleeding and such. Finally I'm on one that has been working and it goes through December. I've never had to get another year's prescription so I'm not quite sure what I need to do. Can I just call the office and tell them that I need an other year filled or do I need to make an appt to come in and actually see the doctor? Also, I got this prescription from another doctor because I had to go see her due to abnormal pap smears (which are all cleared up now) so I haven't had an actual physical with my regular doctor in almost 3 years since I was seeing this other doctor every 3-4 months for a pap for the past 2 years and called that good enough. I actually have my physical this afternoon with my regular doctor who I haven't seen in 3 years so should I ask her about getting my prescription changed over to her or leave it as is? I am planning on moving out of state next April so neither one will any longer be my doctor.

My GP/hospital requires a yearly pap before refilling my prescription. I also had another HMO that required the same. I would assume, yours would require a pap before refilling the rx.
Ask you GP today about a refill. If they require a pap, and you're not doing that today, at least you know what you need to do. I'm assuming they're all under the same insurance? if no insurance, your GP may give it to you.
My GP is my Gyn, and it's policy to get a yearly pap.
good luck
