Anyone tried Yaz ?

My doctor wants to start me on Yaz. I've been off the pill for about 3 years now and looking to go back on it because of really heavy periods. I'm concerned about the side effects, especially weight gain. My doctor says that Yaz has very little side effects. Just curious is anyone has tried it and what they think??

I have been on Yaz for about five weeks, and everything has gone pretty smoothly. I started taking it on the first day of a period. Other than making that period last a little longer (I spotted for about 2 or 3 extra days), I've had no major problems. (My last period was only 4 days!) My breasts were tender for the first month (they grew a little, too!), but now they feel fine although they're still a little larger. Since I was an A cup before, I'm not too upset about that side effect. I've been getting a few more zits than normal, but that seems to be leveling off as my body gets used to the hormones. All in all, I'm pretty pleased. Good luck!

I think I am very prone to side effects, and this pill has been working out well for me. I haven't had any weight changes whatsoever (although this is not a side effect I've had much issue with ever). I was nauseous and dizzy the first week, but that wore off. My periods barely exist, and I really like that. I haven't had spotting like some other people, but I do know it's a pretty big possibility in the first few months (I've read a lot of message boards, and it says so on their website). Also, in the beginning I had to pee a lot more frequently, and when I did, a lot more came out. But that wore off too. I think it's because the progestin drsp is derived from a diuretic (spironolactone), which is something that makes you pee. That stopped after about a week, just like the nausea. I had two bad zits right after starting it (not cystic though, just a pain), but none have come back since. I guess my first week was just the big adjustment week and after that nothing very notable at all.

I would recommend yaz over all other pills I've tried. They all made me really, really emotional. This one doesn't, although I have noticed recently, that if I do cry, it is more than I did off the pill. I'm not depressed or anything though, and they are situations that would make me cry anyway -- just not as much as I do now...so far that's my only side effect, though, and it is much, much, much milder than on any other pill. Also, I'm *very* aware of side effects due to past experiences. Someone else without my past problems may have the same side effect and think nothing of it. Overall, I say it's worth a shot.
