So, what is going on exactly??

So i am now done with my placebo pills and today im ready to start a new pack. I got my period 1/2 way through the placebo pills (is that weird) and now its done, so my period was only 3 days. my period is normally 6 days, so does that mean that my pills are working right? And why is it that my period is shorter, im not sure about the whole thing. Thanks for listening.

It really just depends on how your body works with the pill. A lot of people experience shorter periods with the pill -- it's often listed as a possible benefit of taking the pill, by the pill companies. On some pills, I have heard of people not having periods altogether (which would worry me, because then I'd wonder if the pill were working). Also, some pills, like yaz and loestrin 24 are marketed as pills that shorten your period (they have more active pills). I think it is safe to say your pill is working, though, and that the bleeding you experienced was your period, since it happened right when you're supposed to get your period.
*Also, a reason it might be different is because the period you get on the pill isn't an actual period... since ostensibly, you are not ovulating.
A real period is one that you get as as result of ovulation.
