Stopped Pill-Next Period?

Last period was 8/14/06, since I was going to a new DR. the following week I was told by NP to stop pill for one month as she could not come up with a diagonsis for continued BTB plus I received another abnormal pap result at my annual exam. Referred to Gyn for further treatment/tests. (I have a long history of these.) Went to Dr. Appt., had colp, endometrial something or other, uterus was checked out, etc., had GYN pelvic ultrasound last Thursday to check out the possibility of fibroid tumor. (Have had BTB all year taking Ortho Cyclen and Lo/Ovral. - surprise, no pill no BTB this month.) Long story short, I should have started today and haven't as of yet, outer course the only activity this month so not concerned about pregnancy. However, I was irregular before starting the pill years ago, which was the initial reason I went on them to begin with. My new Dr. gave me a couple of samples of YAZ to start when my next period starts.

I guess my questions is irregular before, irregular now?

Any feedback??

As far as what is going on with your body right now: it's probably getting used to not being on hormones, since you've been off the pill for only a month. It may take a while for your cycle to get back to normal.

I think a lot of people go on the pill for cycle control...I'm on yaz and haven't had any trouble yet, but before taking the pill I was regular down to the day. I've read a lot about BTB with yaz. Although I haven't experienced it, it seems to be a pretty common side effect for the first few months -- it's even listed on the website as something to expect in the first month: http://www.yaz-us.com/front

So, I'm a little bit surprised that your doctor gave you this when you had BTB for a year on Ortho Cyclen. Also, I think they tend to prescribe pills with higher estrogen content for people who have problems with BTB... although according to your post, you were on pills with higher estrogen before, so maybe it will be good to try something different. I'm not a doctor, and I would certainly trust your doctor more than myself, I'm just commenting on my surprise. Also, I like yaz a lot so I'm not trying to scare you away from it -- and it's really nice to have a shortened period, too. I hope it works out for you!

Hi,

Don't panic that your period hasn't arrived yet, your body is just getting used to the change in hormones.

I also suffer even on the pill with long, heavy periods. I think his thought was the shorter, lighter periods. We will see. I'll keep the board posted.
