Going off of the Pill?

You probably don't get many of these posts, usually people want to know about starting it! Anyway, I'm thinking of going off of the Pill for awhile. My boyfriend and I recently broke up- that's a long story, and who knows if we'll get back together, but I was considering going off of it anyway (we're Christian and though we definitely had sex, the guilt factor was there esp. for him, so I thought it'd be easier if we had less "excuses" to do it, since condoms are no fun). It's expensive and if I'm not having sex, I certainly don't need to shell out $25 a month, when I make almost nothing and almost everything goes toward bills. Plus, I think it's making me fat- I've been on it for 3 years, and initially, it made me a little more bloated than usual, but in the past few months, my boobs seem to get bigger every cycle, and it never goes away, and I just always feel bloated and it's gotten to the point where my pants are snug. Granted, I'm a size 0, but there's no other explanation why I'd be gaining weight in my lower abs and boobs- and no, I'm not pregnant; I've been having my period regularly, my last period ended about a week ago, and the fat thing sort of came out of nowhere and has stuck around for a couple of months. I think the hormones are shifting or something.

Anyway, my question is- would it be better for me to finish up the pack I'm on? Or can I just stop mid-cycle? Or would that really screw me up? I'm going to miss the predictable periods, lighter flow and non-existant cramps, but I really need the cash and for my work clothes to fit because I can't afford new ones!

You should definetly wait til you finish your pack, otherwise your period is going to be messed up. I went off the pill for about 3 months (for basically the same reason as you). I don't know your situation, but i broke out worse than i EVER have in my whole life (i have terrible scars too). Just a warning. Otherwise it was fine and dandy.

I was on it once a long time ago for acne, for about a year, and it didn't really do anything, so when I went off of it, there was no difference. I went on Accutane in college, which basically cured me of acne. I only get a few here and there, so I'm not worried.

But I will wait and finish the pack, just so my flow isn't angry at me :)
