Missed Period and on BC (not pregnant)

Ok. I am on Apri, birth control and have been on it for almost 2 years and have never missed a period or had heavy bleeding or anything unusual until now. I never got my period in August. I took two pregnancy tests and they were both negative. My doc said that is normal sometimes, even though Im on the pill. Now i was supposed to get my period Sunday and I still havent and for some strange reason I think I know Im not going to get it again. But last month and this month, I saw just a little trickle of blood in my discharge when I went to the bathroom. No cramps though. I have had some pain in the middle of my cycle or every now and then that made me wonder what it was but on a scale of 1-10, the pain was like a 3 or 4. Now you should also know that I've had a yeast infection that hasnt gone away in almost 2 years. The doctor is treating me for that, but i've been on the same medications for that for the past 6 months and yet have gotten my period in July and the months before that. Im worried that if I call my doc and tell her I didnt get my period again, she'll brush my concern off again and tell me there is nothing to worry about. Could i have an ovarian cyst? Or Pelvic Inflammatory Disease? it burns pretty much all the time, but my doc says I have alot of yeast spores in my vagina and thats what's causing the burning. But why havent I been getting my period?
Of course I'll take another preg. test in a few days just to be sure again, but what the heck is going on? Im on the pill and i've never seen the little amount of blood before without getting my period. My periods on the pill have always been normal, light-normal bleeding lasting 4-6 days. I dont get it!!!!!!

I've never heard of Apri but is it normal to be on birth control that long and to have a total lack of menses?

If you are concerned (and I would be about the lengthy yeast infections), I would call again. Or go to your PCP (primary care physician). Or Urgent Care. I wish I could help you out more but I'm at a loss here.

My thoughts are with you.

Thanks for the concerns, but I actually got my period today! I've never been happier to get it. I feel semi-normal now. But I have had some progress on the Diflucan/Lamisil combination. It seems to lessen the yeast and takes away the burning. The doctor I have been seeing is a specialist. She only sees patients like me who have yeast or other vaginal infections that wont go away. She said Im lucky since most of her patients have no relief or progress. I have seen my regular doctor and another gynecologist and they sent me to the specialist. I feel that if she sees patients like me everyday and they have the same problem then she must know whats shes doing. She said that I must have a strand of yeast that every medicine is resistant to.

Hi,

Has your specialist suggested going off your pill?

Has your doctor suggested any changes to your diet?

Hello,

Someone else on the board suggested I get in touch wiith you since you have been battling a yeast problem. I have had a reccurring yeast infection for a while now (since last December)...it will either go away and come back, or neve really go away ( most recent problem). A doctor back in April told me to buy a book called The Yeast Connection, and I never did because I thought it sounded absurd. But now I have gotten myself into such a state of worry over this and maybe have been reading way too much on the internet (saying causes could be diabetes or even worse, HIV. I was tested in Aug '05 and it came back negative, ahve been with one person unprotected since and of course I am flipping out). So, since I have been a mess, I bought the book and it seems to make a lot of sense. I was on tetricycline in college for acne, and other antibiotics periodically when I would get strep throat all the time (and a UTI here and there). I just stopped taking the pill a month ago as I heard that can cause yeast infections. I have also been extremely stressed over the past 6 months due to some personal crisis (and I suffer from anxiety and depression which doesnt help that). I have an appointment with the NP at my gyn oncologist's office today (had to go to onc back in june for severe cervical dysplasia) to get to the bottom of this...she is the only person who could see me this soon. Do you have any thoughts on this? Am I over reacting? Thanks.
