Changing birth control pill

I've changed pills once before and it took a while to get my doctor to actually agree to it. I have very painful periods so he put me on a very high dosage pill to help with the pain. Because I've just been diagnosed with endometriosis, it doesn't matter how high dose the pill is, it's not going to touch the pain and it hasen't. Now that I know I don't need the higher dose of hormones, I want to go on a lower pill like ortho tri cyclen lo. I don't need the whole wack of hormones but I still need it for protection so I'm just wondering if it will be just as effective as the high pill I'm on now or if by going from high to low, will the effectiveness change.
Ortho tri cyclen lo is so popular now and people I know that are on it feel better because they aren't pumped full of hormones like I am with my pill. After I take it, I feel nautious so I'm hoping by going to a lower dose, this will change. I've also had random spotting for days on this pill. What's a good low dose pill to try?

Hi melony21, welcome!

I agree with Jill, going to a lower estrogen pill might be what you're looking for (and may also help with the endometriosis, I don't know why your doc gave you more estrogen instead of less).
Hi! I have a question similiar to something you mentioned in your answer.
Does the estrogen level in the pill change anything in the lining of the uterus and where the thickness of the mucus is? Cause if the estrogen deals with that, wouldn't it make it more or less effective?
I'm wondering cause my dr. switched me to a higher dose of estrogen to try and get rid of my spotting but I still have spotting, so I don't understand what the difference is between high does and low doses of estrogen are and what it does or what it affects.
