Loestrin 24 Fe -- spotting problems

I started on Loestrin 24 Fe at the beginning of August. The first month went fine -- no side effects at all and I felt much less moody than on my last one (Yasmin). I continued taking it problem-free until about last Wednesday (13th). This was about 2 weeks into the cycle. I began experiencing spotting...it's not heavy at all, but it's just been constant since then. I'm supposed to be on my inactive pills in 2 days.

I was wondering if it's normal to have spotting continually for a week and a half during the first few months of using the pill.

I just find it odd because I didn't experience any last month.

Also: is my pill less effective since this is happening?

Any thoughts would be welcomed!

Hi himynameise, welcome!

It's very common to have side effects during the first 3 or 4 cycles on a new pill. Often side effects appear during the first cycle, but not always. When I was on OTC it took 2 years for me to start losing my libido. If you have been taking your pills correctly you should be well protected, even though you are bleeding. It is a lot harder to keep your endometrium stable than it is to suppress ovulation. I'll bet the bleeding clears up in another cycle or two.

Thanks for posting. Please ask if you have more questions. I hope Loestrin 24 Fe works well for you. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Hello Himynameise..- I have attempted Loestrin for 4 months, and I had a problem with NO period what so ever! I talked to my doctor, and he had changed me to a higher "dose" of estrogen ( i think estrogen) because of the Low levels of estrogen. It is common to have changes within the first few months of new B.C. but if it doesnt change, talk to your doc! Maybe the spotting is just a sign your body is telling you its not good for you! Good Luck!
