I wanted to know about Hormone-free birth control! What is the difference between having Hormone-free birth control and birth control with Hormones? I was just curios Because i keep hearing about mirena and paragard the IUDS. Is Paragard the only birth control with out Hormones or are the other things avalible in the USA? Thank You For Your Time.

Paragaurd and Mirena are the only two IUDs avalible in the US. Mirena has some hormones in it that will help reduce cramping that is related to the IUD, but can cause break through bleeding, spotting, a lack of a period, or other progerstone related side effects. Where as Paragaurd is horome free but is known to often make cramps worse that no horomes. Your normal birth control with both estronogen and progesterone can cause some side effects, but can also have some positive side effects like regulating periods, lighter periods, acne control. Other forms of hormone birth control are the mini-pill (progestrone only), Nuva Ring, and the patch. Besides Paragaurd your other forms of non-hormone birth control are condoms, diaphram, and cervial caps. With the exception of the Paragaurd IUD other forms of hormone free birth control will require use before each act of sex. Whereas your hormone based birth control requires you to pay attention to it daily, weekly, monthly, weather your having sex or not.
