Experiences with Nordette?

I've been taking Yasmin for a little over a year. My doctor yesterday prescribed Nordette for me, since i've seen a gradual dampening of my libido since i started on Yasmin. Seems like that I'm not in the minority for having that side effect with Yasmin.

I'm currently in the middle of a pack of yasmin, so I won't start the new meds for a few weeks. I've been trying to do a little internet research on Nordette but really have not found a whole lot. (i'm the biology nerd that reads the Rx pamphlets from cover to cover). I know we all react differently to the different components of the BCP's, but I was interested in seeing what you guys could tell me about Nordette...experiences? Pros/cons? Is it low/high dose? Do they have a website? I appreciate the info!

I have a question similiar to this too. I thought my Dr. said he'd change my to Nadette or Nordette (spelling?) because I was taking Lessina, but then I went to pick up my prescription at the pharmacy and they gave me Portia. Then I came on here and noticed that Portia and Nordette are in the same category, so maybe my pharmacy doesn't carry Nordette and decided to give me Portia instead?

Is Portia going to work the same as Nordette and be as effective? Eep I really hope so! I'm not sure about the insurance thing, but as long as it works the same I won't be so worried. I think Portia will be *the* one for me lol. I've already started to notice a change and this is my first week switching to it from Lessina. I think it might actually stop my break through bleeding/spotting, it's starting to get lighter already so I think it's working. :)

Generic drugs will work just as effectively as the brand-name ones. Sometimes you may get side effects from the generic and not the name brand and vice versa just due to difference in the way it is manufactured, however in terms of efficacy, the active ingredients and dosages are identical, and therefore equal in effectiveness.
