Yaz...Missed Period
24

I have been on BC pills since I was 19 and have NEVER missed a period. (I'm almost 26 now) I started out on OTC and it made me TOALLY crazy. I have switched pills many times over the years because of my crazy moods. I have been on Yasmine for the past year, and when I went to my gyno last month she switched me to Yaz. I finished my pack of Yasmine and started taking my Yaz, taking it at the same time every day like clockwork. (I set an alarm) I am engaged and have been having unprotected sex with my fiance since I went on the pill. My Gyno said I would not have to use backup when switching, so we didn't.

Here is the issue, I finished my active pills on Tuesday, and now have taken my last sugar pill. My new pack of Yaz is due to start tomorrow and I have not had my period. I have major PMS, slight cramping, swollen breasts, backache, and headache. I have had some mildly discolored discharge, but nothing I would even consider spotting. Should I be concerned? Has anyone missed their first period, or any period with Yaz? When I was on Yasmine my period came on Thursdays, which with Yaz would be the first active pill day of the new pack. Could I just not have a period with this pill? Should I take a HPT? HELP!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance,
Hilarye

My 14 year old daughter is taking Yaz. She has not missed any periods. Have you had similiar results with other BC's?

I am having the same problem. This is my second month on Yaz and I don't seem to be getting my period until Sunday when the last active pill I take is Tuesday. I was on ortho lo for two years and even with that it would take me five days to get my period which was ok because I was still on the inactive pills when my period came. But this is kind of freaking me out because I start my active pill on Sunday with yaz and I think you should get your period during the inactive pill time. I started birth control mainly to control my irregular periods, and this is not giving me much comfort.

Is this normal?

I am so relieved that I am not the only one who has missed periods on Yaz! Although I am still a little bit worried that I have just missed my second set of pills... I took a home test after the first missed period just to reassure myself, and sure enough I wasn't pregnant, but now I have missed the second month... The thing is though that my boyfriend and I have NEVER not used some method of back-up, so I don't know why I freak. Oh well, I'm just glad to know that it's not extremely abnormal. Thanks!

My dermatologist put me on a generic version of Ortho (Trinessa) when I was on Accutane. When Accutane didn't clear my acne, we tried Yaz. It works really well. This month is my sixth month on this particular pill. I've always had terribly painful and sporadically irregular periods, but they have been semi-realiable with Yaz, lasting only two days and usually coming on Friday and Saturday (I'm a Sunday Starter). Now on my sixth month, it's Saturday night and I feel nauseated and have slight cramping, but not even a sign of that sickening menstrual pain or any blood or spotting or anything. I've heard of other people having this problem and I know I still have another placebo pill left that I take tonight before starting on my active pills again tomorrow night, but I'm freaking out. My boyfriend just came to visit me this past Monday and Tuesday and I really hope I'm not in the 1% ineffective range of this pill!!!! All birth control methods are only 99%, I know this, but I'm hoping to get a visit from Aunt Flo ASAP.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm getting really nervous!
