Yaz...Missed Period

I have been on BC pills since I was 19 and have NEVER missed a period. (I'm almost 26 now) I started out on OTC and it made me TOALLY crazy. I have switched pills many times over the years because of my crazy moods. I have been on Yasmine for the past year, and when I went to my gyno last month she switched me to Yaz. I finished my pack of Yasmine and started taking my Yaz, taking it at the same time every day like clockwork. (I set an alarm) I am engaged and have been having unprotected sex with my fiance since I went on the pill. My Gyno said I would not have to use backup when switching, so we didn't.
Here is the issue, I finished my active pills on Tuesday, and now have taken my last sugar pill. My new pack of Yaz is due to start tomorrow and I have not had my period. I have major PMS, slight cramping, swollen breasts, backache, and headache. I have had some mildly discolored discharge, but nothing I would even consider spotting. Should I be concerned? Has anyone missed their first period, or any period with Yaz? When I was on Yasmine my period came on Thursdays, which with Yaz would be the first active pill day of the new pack. Could I just not have a period with this pill? Should I take a HPT? HELP!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance,
Hilarye

Hi there,
I can see a couple of things going on here. Firstly, it's not uncommon to miss a period on Yaz every now and again, so it's not necessarily a cause for concern unless you miss your period too months in a row. And, there is also the possibility that for whatever reason, your period will be slightly later this cycle. Because Yaz only has the four placebo pills, instead of the standard seven, it's not uncommon for a woman to get her period at the start of the new pack.
Another problem to consider is that whatever has been causing your irregular periods is actually getting worse. While Yaz will control your irregular periods to some extent, it will never fix the cause of the problem. It will simply control the symptoms.
Hi
I think you should be fine. Sounds like your period could be coming with a backache, etc. Yes it is possible to miss them. Please return if you get your period....I am here to listen and am curious to find out if you do. Lezza
