Forgetting pills

I ended up missing about 3 or 4 pills in a row so I decided to stop taking my birth control about 3 1/2 weeks ago and start again once I had my period. I never had a period or anything after I stopped my pills. I had some spotting, but it was really dark. Do you normally have a period when you stop taking your pills? Before when I've missed 2 pills I have a little break through bleeding, but this time is different. I missed a pill about a month ago and had unprotected sex and then kept forgetting pills so that's when I stopped taking them. Could missing that pill and a couple sporatic ones before it and after cause me to ovulate and could I be pregnant? Or do you normally just spot when you stop taking your pills?

I'm having a rough time, my boobs have never hurt so bad and I'm very emotional, I'm thinking all this could be because I started my pills over, but I've done this before and my boobs have never hurt this bad.

Someone please help! Thanks!

If it'd put your mind at ease, i'd pick up a pregnancy test and rule out that as a possiblity. It could however just be the offset of your pills and hormones that has you all screwed up and causing the side effects.

If it were me, i'd want a definite answer and not have to worry about the unknown. If you have further concerns i'd check with either your gyno or planned parenthood, depending on who prescribed your pills for you.

In the future i'd try to find a way to be more consistent with taking your pills. I carry mine in my purse so they're with me at all times. Then just try to find a time of day that you can consistently remember to take them (before bed, noon, when you get up, at dinnertime, etc). I take mine at noon every day becuase I know that is the one time of day i'm always up and available to take the pills. My sleep/meal schedule fluctuates between the work week and weekends so I can't say it's a reliable way to base my pill taking on those factors...just a thought. But you just have to find something that works for you. Unfortunately sporadic pill-taking schedules are the reason most people have problems with unreliable pills.

I agree, if you miss one pill and take several irregularly or miss a couple more within a short time, you can disrupt the hormones enough to allow ovulation to occur.
