Skipping period....new type of pills....

I'd like to seek out the opinion of you all.
I'm currently on Yasmin, and have been for a little over a year. Yasmin has flattened my libido, so my doctor has prescribed Nordette (levora) for me to begin, which I will be starting 2 weeks from now, after I finish my current pack of Yasmin.
Herein lies my problem. I am going to Cancun for a week in mid-November with my fiance, a week which happens to be the week I get my period...it'll come on the Wednesday in the middle of the vacation week. I'd like to try to skip a period and offset the week so that it won't fall in the middle of vacation.
What would be the best way to handle this? Should I skip the last week of placebo's in my Yasmin and start the Nordette as soon as my active pills are done, or should I take the placebo week of the yasmin, start the nordette on the normal schedule and then skip the placebo's after the first pack of Nordette?
I wasn't sure if there were any implications with skipping the placebo pills and starting a new type of pill. But I've also heard that sometimes the first time you skip it doesn't always work--i tried after the first pack of Nordette--which could mean i'd gamble with getting my period regardless while in cancun....
Hope i made sense...
Finally, with any of the scenarios would I need to use a backup method?

You're not supposed to need backup when switching pills, but I always do, just for a week.
Starting your new pills immediately after the last active Yasmin pill is the best choice at this point. It shouldn't decrease your protection and even if you bleed a bit then you will have moved you period by a week before you go on your trip. Let us know how switching to Levora works for you.

Could I also take an extra week of Yasmin after completing this pack then take the 7 day break and THEN start my Nordette? Seems like some have suggested this with other threads. I have 2 more packs for Yasmin and was planning on switching brands after this pack, but if I could just tack on another week that wouldn't be bad...
Any thoughts?

Maybe you misunderstood my thought.
I will be done with the active pills in my current pack of yasmin a week from Saturday (10/14, as i am currently on week 2).
I was suggesting take an additional week of Yasmin after that from one of my spare packs (7 active pills instead of the 7 placebos), which would continue my Yasmin from now continually until 10/21. After that i'd take my 7 day placebo/period week, and then start my new prescription (nordette) after that. I'd only be putting off taking the Nordette by an extra week. and would bump my period a week off my vacation.
I'd take the remainder of my Yasmin and throw it out. I would only use the single week otu of my 2 remaining packs...
Essentially i'd be taking 4 weeks straight of Yasmin (considering i'm on week 2 now) then 1 week of placebo, then starting the Nordette.
I just was not sure if i could take a 4th straight week of Yasmin after my current pack (instead of the placebo week) and then take the week off after the extra active pills or if i had to go straight through and finish the second pack.
Sorry if i'm being confusing, i just want to make sure i have my facts straight so i don't screw it up, i've never "broken the rules" before with my pill taking.
My only concern with starting the Nordette immediately after finishing my active pills in my Yasmin is that would make my period end right as i was leaving for vacation. I wasn't sure if i'd have problems if thigns ran a little longer with starting the new pills...
