Yaz side effects
| Thu, 10-05-2006 - 2:51pm |
I started taking Yaz almost two months ago and I've been experiencing huge digestive problems - with occasional nausea and stomach pain. Has anyone else felt this on Yaz? I want to swtich, but everyone says you need to wait it out for 3 months or so to let your body adjust.
Thank you!

The problem I had with YAZ, and have since stopped taking it, was BTB. I started YAZ the Sunday after my period started and after 18 days of bleeding (never stopped after withdrawal bleed started) called Dr. and was told to stop YAZ this past Wednesday, have a period (yippee!) and begin a new pill Ovcon 35 Sunday (today). I didn't have digestive issues that were any different than any other day!
We will see what happens with this pill.
Hi, I've been on Yaz for about 2 and a half months.
I was a little nauseous for the first couple of weeks, but that's pretty much subsided. The pharmacy does put a little sticker on each pack of Yaz saying to eat something with it if you get nauseous. If you haven't tried that, you might.
Also, I take acidopholus (did I spell that right?) which is supposed to aid in digestion, so you might try that. I had a friend whose mom was on really strong meds and having problems with nausea and upset stomach. She started taking the acidopholus and was able to tolerate the meds much better. You can get it at pharmacies or health food stores in the vitamin section. I told my doctor about it when she prescribed Yaz, and she didn't say it would interfere. Check with your own doc, though.
Good luck!
The Yaz might have something to do with your contacts. It mentions that in the package insert. (Like a nut, I went and read about all of the possible side effects and then freaked myself out that I'd have them all!) I haven't had the contact problem, though. Like I said, Yaz hasn't been too bad for me other than a little spotting right before my period (which I hope will resolve itself after another month or so) and some breast tenderness during the second week. I think you're right to give yourself some time to adjust. It might not be the pill for you, but then again your body might just need a little transition time. I hope you feel better, and give the acidopholus a try. Like I said, it helped my friend tolerate a MUCH stronger medication than Yaz.
Good luck!
