more/less est/progest & spotting times

My dr. had a chart that explained what you needed more of less of in BCP's depending on when in your cycle you were spotting.
Does any one have this information?
e.gl: if you spot at the end of the cycle it means you need more estrogen or progesterone?
TIA,
Rose

Hi rosieposie11, welcome back!

Hi Jill,
thanks for the link! it's an interesting site too!
The late cycle btb has happened 2x in the last 4 cycles. I asked my dr. about it last month and she didn't change my BCPs, just the brand name. I am on Ortho Cept, and now I am on .... one that I can't remember, but it's still . .0.03 mcg of estrogen and 0.15 of the progestrone component. Which kinda confuses me, bc it's really the same mix of hormones, just a different brand...so will it make a difference? (I start the new brand Sunday). Also, she (the dr) said that she really didn't want to switch up anything more since she considered the btb not that big of a concern/side effect.
what are your thoughts??
and is a 0.03 estrogen one considered a high dose of estrogen or not? I always thought it was on the lower end since it's less than .35.

Jill:
I don't know why the change was made either, bc, as you said it's exactly the same combination of estrogen/progest...
I think it has to do with the fact that she is not as familiar with Ortho Cept brand and more so with Marvelon (I rememember the name now). So that's why she switched it.
Thanks for the information on the 'low dose'. I always thought that less than 50 was low, are there many women still on the 50?
I was just concerned bc my dr also thought it was a 'high one' when I mentionned the type I was on. when I had always thought 30/15 was relatively a common combination. Plus, I had also nursed while on this pill w/o much impact on my milk supply (that I could tell) so then she got me all concerned that I had done something wrong and consequently to my DS. Does that make sense?
Anyways, I think I am rambling on.
Thanks again.
I will let you know if there is any difference with Marvelon next week. But like we have agreed upon, I doubt it!
;)

Nowadays I don't think there are many women (as a percentage of users) on a pill with 50 mcgs of estrogen. Usually what we see is a member being put on a 50 mcg pill for only a few cycles to see if it will control a particular problem. Do let us know how you do on Marvelon.
Jill
Marvelon is just a generic for Ortho Cept and Desogen (both those are brand name pills with the same dosage).
