Yaz and yeast infections

Ok I have a quick question. On about August 20th I switched from the patch to the pill (yaz) and before I started the pill I quit using the patch for about 1 to 2 weeks. My boyfriend and I never use any kind of back up method (not even withdrawal every time). The next month (September) my period was lighter (probably because I now have a shorter cycle) and right before I got my period I got a yeast infection. I diagnosed and treated myself for it. Well this month I am supposed to start my period around yesterday or today. I haven't yet and I have another yeast infection. I noticed it about 3 or 4 days ago. I am treating myself for this one also. My question is why am I getting these infections? Is it being caused by my BC? I have heard that if you get yeast infections back to back there could be a slight possibility of pregnancy, but considering everything I have told you, what is the more likely cause? Thanks for your input!! *JayJay*

I have read that bcp can contribute to having more yeast infections, so it could be your new pills. I haven't had that problem with Yaz, though.
The other thing I will tell you is to go see a doctor. I had the same problem many years ago. I thought I had recurrent yeast infections, treated them myself, and then they'd return a month or so later. When I finally went to the doctor, it turned out that I'd never had a yeast infection. It was a bacterial infection which had to be treated with antibiotics. (The symptoms are very similar to a yeast infection.) After a few days of antibiotics, the problem was gone for good! So go see your doctor to make sure you really do have a yeast infection and not something else. I know it's no fun going to the gyno, but the alternative is equally unfun!
Good luck!

There are different kinds of bacterial infections as well as different kinds of yeast infections.
