Mirena removal - side effects??

I had my Mirena IUD removed last Friday (10/6) after having it for over 4 years. I had some problems with it the first year, basically hormonal problems (i.e., cysts on my ovaries), but the rest of the time it worked very well. I was wondering if anyone else had side effects after having their Mirena removed. I did experience some heavy bleeding a few days after, but that has since ceased. The last couple of days though, I've had increasingly bad headaches (this morning it was bad enough that I threw up). I've always been very sensitive to hormones in medications, which is one reason why I didn't try to go back on the pill 4 years ago. I was told that Mirena only releases hormones locally and not through your body as the pill does. Does anyone know how true that is? Did anyone else who had Mirena longer than a year, and then removed, experience adverse side affects like this?

From my understanding, Mirena only releases progesterin into the uterus. I have not had my Mirena removed, so I can't really speak to why you're having the headaches. Have you called your doctor and asked?
