Long-term use? (TMI warning)

I have been searching for some answers that hopefully someone here can give me. I have never visited this board before and hope it is okay that I post here.

I have been on Desogen/Apri for over 10 years with a 4 month break about 5 years ago (when I went through a divorce). I am 29 and have not really had any bad side effects until recently. I have been experiencing a non-existant sex drive which is putting a lot of strain on my marriage but we are not ready to have kids yet. Also, recently I have noticed that my periods are coming later and later on my off weeks and getting lighter as well (pretty much panty-liner light). It used to be like clock-work, I knew within an hour of when it would start.

The last two cycles I have also noticed twinges to severe cramping in my ovaries at about the time that I would ovulate if not on BCP. I also have seen an increase in CM (cervical mucous) which has been practically non-existent ever since I can remember.

I guess my question is could my body be changing to where my BCP is no longer working properly and allowing me to ovulate? Should I be worried about getting pregnant? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for any info you can give me!

Hi there denali22002,

As long as you are taking your pills on time, then your pill should be preventing ovulation.

If you were ovulating, your periods would be getting heavier, not lighter.
