BC Pill Question

Hi all!

I'm on tricyclin 21 day pack and I wanted to skip my period that was supposed to be on Monday, so I took my next pack straight through.
It worked a bit but I'm spotting now.

My question is, can I stop this new pack on saturday, let myself have a period a week late, and then start this same pack next Sunday? (eventhough it would be a week into the pack?)
Or do I have to finish this pack and then let myself have a period before my next pack? I would rather just have it now so that I don't have to spot this whole month!!

oh thank you very much! I need to start a new pack, though? Is this because these are tri-phasic pills? I'm finding this so confusing!

Yes, it's because they're triphasic pills and you'd wind up taking the weeks out of order and always having to have two packs for one cycle.

Is there a reason I have to wait until saturday to stop or can I stop now since I've taken more than 21 in a row? And if I dont take tonight's pill, will my real period start tomorrow or the next day?
Thanks so much!

Hi again curiousj3,

Since you have taken more than 21 actives you can stop right away. Saturday is often a convenient time to stop because it would retain the start day, for Sunday starters. Once you have reset your cycle you can adjust your start day (if necessary) by shortening your hormone-free interval. If you have been taking OTC for 3 or more cycles your period will probably arrive when it usually does but depending on how much you have been bleeding it might be lighter, or heavier. Just to clarify..

I'm not taking my pill tonight (saturday) so the next pill I should take should be the sunday of a new pack or should I take the last saturday of my old pack?

Can I ask a dumb question?

If you can go up to 7 days hormone-free without losing your protection from the pill, how come if you miss a pill or 2 you're at risk for pregnancy?

Doesn't seem to make sense to me...

Hi

I also had the same question...I'd like to skip my next period or rather dealy it a few days. I'm on lindynette 20, which is a 21 day/7 off as well. For some reason the reply you got are not coming up for me..can you give me a brief summary of what was said...can I safely continue taking it and not stop until I want my cycle to start?

Thanks
