NuvaRing and Moodswings
| Mon, 10-23-2006 - 11:46am |
I just finished my first month on the NuvaRing and so far, is has caused the fewest side effects than all the other pills I have tried. However, it has caused some mood swings and emotional outbursts for me - I am naturally a pretty upbeat and easygoing kinda person. Anyway, my boyfriend wants me to stop the hormone game already because the side effects are affecting our relationship and me on birth control is different from the person he met. I kinda want to give it another month's shot but I am scared that I will have these bitchy moments again. So my question is has anyone had mood swings from the NuvaRing in the first couple of months that eventually went away? Thanks!
P.S. I am already taking a Vitamin B-6 supplement and it helps a little.

I was on Nuvaring for 2 years, after being on Ortho Tricyclen for 6 years. My moods were a bit better, actually, on the Nuvaring, but still bad during PMS time. The terrible side effect I had with Nuvaring was ZERO libido. It had been declining over the years, and Nuvaring kicked it to absolutely nothing. I'm trying Lo Ogesterel now, and now along with no libido, I have MANY other side effects.
Another type of pill may help, but it's a guessing game. It's all about trial and error with hormones since they all affect your body in one way or another.
I agree with Kitty, though you may want to look at your diet in general and not only make sure you're getting a good B complex but also a multivitamin.
