sexual side effects of the pill?

Wondering, from your experience, which type of pill has the lowest rate of sexual side effects. A lot of my friends are saying that the pill lowers their desire to have sex. i don't have too much of an interest in sex in the first place so i certainly don't want a pill that's going to make having sex any harder for me. Any advice on which birth control route to take?

I took Ovcon-35 with no problems in that area, maybe even a little increased interest in sex. Everybody's different, though, so unfortunately, it's trial and error. Good luck.

My sex drive was completely depleted on

Ortho Tricyclen
Nuvaring
Lo Ogesterel

It's true, it's all about trial and error.

The one that killed mine was Desogen. I was only on it for a month because I couldn't stand it anymore (and neither could my husband!).

I've just finished up my prescription with Yasmin and will be switching to Nordette (generic version Levora) this coming weekend. My doctor switched me to Levora/Nordette since Yasmin has killed my sex drive--or at least that's the suspected cause.

My question is, for those of you who have had libido problems with birth control pills and found an alternative type of pill that you've had good luck with, how long did it take before you started seeing the results (improved libido) of the new pills? I'll be starting the new pills this weekend and hopefully i'll have good luck with it.

I personally had no libido problems with OTC or Estrostep, however I had horrible moodswings with both. Moving right along to the next try. Maybe someday I'll find one that meshes with my system!

I'm curious to hear about your experiences.

Well, in my case, with the Desogen, my sex drive disappeared within days of the first pill, and it never came back until I stopped taking them. I suppose it varies depending on the individual, but I'm very sensitive to side effects. Anyway, after I quit it, I didn't start another pill right away. A couple months later I went on Estrostep FE and had no libido problems at all with it. BUT, I lost tons of hair on that one. Bad pill for me, obviously. My libido was also good on Ovcon-35 and I got to keep my hair. :-)
